In Loving Memory of Ms. Liza Ann (Sis) McGahe
Ms. Liza Ann (Sis) McGahe graced this world with her presence on October 29, 1934, in Walton County, Georgia, born to the late James and Jannie Elder McGahe. A pillar of strength and independence, Liza devoted her life to hard work and service, contributing countless hours as a cook for Jim Davis, at Wellington, at Porterdale Mill, as a bus driver, and for the State of Georgia Rest Area facilities.
From an early age, Liza made a heartfelt commitment to her faith, becoming a cherished member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the kitchen staff and the Mother Board for many years. Her unwavering spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Liza departed this life on the morning of January 20, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers Robert, Curtis, and Johnny McGahe, her sisters Pearline Pearson and Alline Smith, and her grandson Pastor Freddie Bernard Ivery.
She leaves behind a legacy filled with love and cherished memories through her five children: Rachel Briney (Lee) of Covington, GA, Tommie McGahe (Johnnie Mae) of Virginia, Mary Jane McGahe of Conyers, GA, Freddie (Eva Mae) Ivery of Rutledge, GA, and Pastor Edith (Ricky) Sandoval of Monroe, GA. In addition, she is survived by her dear sister Maline (Jerry) Fears of Social Circle, GA, along with five grandchildren: Cassandra (Clay) Smith, Tommie (Mandell) McGahe, Lydell (Kimberly) Briney, Stephanie Ivery, and Deonte Sandoval, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless family members and friends.
As we remember Liza's kindness, strength, and unwavering faith, let us celebrate a life well-lived life filled with love, laughter, and warmth. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
