Otis was raised and spent most of his life in and around Social Circle, Georgia, where he became known and loved by so many. He was a true people person who never met a stranger. fI you crossed paths with Otis, chances where he already knew you— or knew your parents, and possibly even your grandparents. He had a way of making people feel familiar and welcome.

Otis loved jazz music, drag racing, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He enjoyed sharing stories about his younger years, the people he grew up around, and the memories that shaped his life. fI you gave him the opportunity, he could take you on a journey through his past, telling you stories that brought laughter, memories, and sometimes a little wisdom along the way.

Otis was always one of the coolest people to be around. His personality, his

conversations, and his ability to connect with people made him someone you could never forget. Even as his health began to decline, Otis remained a joy to be around. His spirit continued to shine, and he still found ways to bring laughter, conversation, and warmth to those around him.

He was the kind of person who left an impression wherever he went. His stories, his laughter, his love for music and racing, and the memories he created with his family will forever remain a part of those who knew and loved him.

Otis Charles Ruff will be deeply missed, but the memories of his life, his personality, and the love he shared with his family and friends will live on forever.

Charles “CJ” Ruff was born to the late John George Harris and Dorothy Irene Ruff-Hillman.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Christopher Charles Ruff; his sisters, Betty Jean Nunnally, Elsie Floyd, Winnice Harris, Earnestine Harris, Barbara Ann Harris,and Regina Harris; and his brothers, John George Harris, Ezzard Charles Harris, and Hanson Harris.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving children: Quenton (Ashia) Smith, Shannon Ruff, Pamela Ruff, and Marquez Johnson; his daughter-in-love, Alexis Garland; his devoted siblings: Flora Bell Harris, Sarah Harris, Juanita Harris, Doreatha Harris, Kenneth (Roslyn) Harris, and Gerald Harris.

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Keyah Smith, Kishon Rogers, Raven Ruff, Kamaya Cooper, Sequoia Ruff, Christian Ruff, Cameron Ruff, and Kaleb Byrd; and his adored great-grandchildren: Paisley Malcom and KJ’C Garcia-Rogers.

He shared a special bond with his dear friend, Gloria Hawkins, and leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and cherished friends who will forever treasure his memory.
